About Us

JEWLS Customs was started by myself, John Skurka, in 2020.  I wanted to offer quality handmade custom items that I've thought up, designed, and manufactured myself.

I'm based out of Upstate NY, and boat on Cayuga Lake.  I've lived in Ithaca (at the bottom of Cayuga) for over 30 years, and owned my first boat in 2018 - a 2018 Yamaha AR195.  In a whim, i decided to take pictures and post it on FB marketplace during the summer of 2020, and the number of inquiries was incredible (due to the pandemic I suppose).  Well, needless to say, the boat sold VERY quickly, and I was lucky to be able to purchase a brand new 2020 AR240.  That's when I got the idea for the table legs and grill stanchions.

I'm a mechanical engineer by training, but have always had an interest in computers.  My first job out of Purdue was with BorgWarner, writing computer programs in Fortran. To this day, I'm still doing all my own computer work as well as selling stuff on the internet.  I'm a LARGE distributor of DRI WASH 'n GUARD(R) Waterless Car Wash.  I've been selling it on the internet since 2003, and continue to do so today.  I also have an automotive tool site, aToolCrib.com which also sells the JEWLS products.

I'm a car guy, a boat guy, a Dad, a Golfer, and a jack of all trades and master of none..  I would appreciate the opportunity to serve you up some custom parts for your Yamaha Boat!
